It will be interesting to watch and see what Naughty Dog does if they can prove it's a rip.

Netflix may not have anyone regulating these situations, but if they truly did steal this score, they could be in some real legal trouble. What do you think? Are they identical tracks just spliced together? Do they sound different? Let us know what you think in the comments. In the meantime, GameTyrant will keep you updated on this matter as more details are released. Its close enough that they believe it may be a match. However, Naughty Dog didn't seem to be aware of the situation and are asking around the office. At the time of this writing, Naughty Dog doesn’t have a comment yet about the situation, but as soon as we hear a response from them we will let you know. If you have any interest in game scores at all, consider this a must-own effort. We have reached out to Naughty Dog asking them if this is in fact an exact score from Uncharted and if so, had they allowed this. From the killer "Nate's Theme 3.0", where the brassy heroic theme works brilliantly alongside tapped bongos for one of the best themes in video games, straight through to the end of the second disc, Edmonson's score grabs and holds your attention with ease. Much like the game it serves, Drake's Deception's score is a thrilling listen sure to get your heart pumping with just a few notes. Even the few remixes feel like welcome inclusions, with the Bricker's layered beats approach to the remix of "Iram Of The Pillars" and the thumping bass beating through Buresh's take on "Science And Magic" turning the orchestral gems on their ear in wonderful ways. For as long as the expansive two-disc set is, it never feels bloated. Although the towering burps or horns ushering in "Shootout" feel like the track could be a rare piece of generic action game fodder, the piece quickly dazzles with its drippy, electrified bass groove and distorted synth while keeping the string and wind sections on their toes on the gunpowder-laced jaunt.

The score exceeds at conveying the moments of isolation in the game, as with the weepy violin opening "The Setup" or fluttering strings and carefully plucked guitar introducing "Boarding Party" as it does the frenetic towering action both pieces evolve into.įrom the elegant strings wafting through the warped Middle Eastern woodwind of "Iram Of The Pillars" to the warmth in the ginger piano and quiet strings of "Drake's Return", there is a warmth to the score that makes it work so well. The score does a fine job balancing the anxious excitement of the game's action against the heartfelt swooning moments of grandeur serving as a sonic snapshot the landscapes Drake finds himself traversing, as on the flowing orchestral swell and rattling percussion of "As Above, So Below" and the defiant strings driving through "The Settlement", while keying in on the creepy with the wailing strings of chilling "Arachnophobia".

The triumphant horns bellowing through the racing strings of "Ambushed" make for a breathtaking listen on an album full of great moments. Genre: Score Music By: Greg Edmonson Release: 2011 Time: 02:14:00 Tagline: A search for the fabled Atlantis of the Sands propels fortune hunter Nathan. The tribal beats and quaint, Spanish-kissed guitar of "Small Beginnings" lend it just the right touch of whimsy and innocence that the segment of the game deserves, while the middle eastern flair of briskly shimmering strings dance beautifully with the horns of "Atlantis Of The Sands", with the light flicker of acoustic guitar as the song drops the pace for a sandy crawl fitting in well. Strangely, the moments that seem to lean heaviest here on the dusty, rustic charm of that cult-classic show's sonic pallet are frequently the work of Azam Ali, as with the twangy guitar, wailing strings, and eerie vocals of "Bazaar Brawl" and loose guitar flailing through mysterious vocals on "The Streets Of Yemen".Įdmonson takes a more measured approach to the rousing score, sweeping you musically to the game's locales without bashing you over the head with them.

It is no secret that movie adaptations of video games have struggled in the past: Tomb Raider and Street Fighter will forever live in infamy, but Sony might have found a way to tell a winning story. Having handled the score for, sci-fi western, Firefly, Edmonson would seem a fantastic fit for the game's desert setting. Tom Holland is bringing a young Nathan Drake to the big screen in an Uncharted movie, and Sonys choice to do a prequel story rather than a direct adaptation of the game might be its key to success.
